The Genesee Community College volleyball team will face at least three teams Oct. 27 in Pool B that include third-seed Jefferson, second-seed Broome and seventh-seed Erie. Playoff rounds beyond those three opponents will be determined by records of opening pool play. A full schedule can be found at the bottom of this page, with Region-III releasing the following information below:
"The Region III Volleyball regular season came to close this weekend and for the second consecutive year the Jayhawks from Jamestown Community College enter the Region III Tournament as the top seed. After an undefeated regular season in 2017, Jamestown finished 2018 with a 16-1 record in Region III matchups, matched by SUNY Broome Community College. Jamestown was awarded the top seed in the tournament having won the head-to-head matchup between the two squads, while Broome enters Regional post season competition as the second seed.
The 2018 Regional Tournament will open with a matchup between ninth seeded SUNY Adirondack (10-7) and eighth seeded Monroe Community College (10-7) on Tuesday, October 23rd at 6:00 pm at MCC. The winner of the opening round matchup will move on to Regional Tournament Pool Play on Saturday, October 27th hosted by Niagara County Community College. The top seeds from each pool will advance to Sunday's Regional Championship matches also at NCCC.
The winner of Tuesday's opening round match will join top seed Jamestown, fourth seeded Finger Lakes Community College, and fifth seeded Onondaga Community College in Pool A. FLCC and OCC both finished the regular season 13-4 in the regional contest. Pool B will feature second seed Broome CC, third seeded Jefferson Community College (14-3), sixth seed Genesee Community College (12-5), and seventh seed Erie Community College (10-7).
In pool play each team will play three matches consisting of three sets each. The two teams with the best overall set records will move on to Sunday's Championships. The top team in Pool A will play the runner-up of Pool B for the Region 3A Championship while Pool B's top team will face off against Pool B's runner-up for the Region 3B crown. The two Region III Champions will advance to the NJCAA Division III Volleyball Championship November 8-10 in Rochester, MN.," according to Region III.
