Genesee Falls in Straight Sets to Jamestown

The GCC volleyball team fell in straight sets in its home opener on Tuesday night, losing three games to none to visiting Jamestown CC.

JCC entered the night as an honorable mention in the latest NJCAA National Poll, and jumped out to an early lead in the first set, winning eight of the first 10 points. The Jayhawks did not trail in the opener and won the first game 25-15.

Jamestown again got off to a fast start in the second game and after winning 12 of the first 17 points, took the second set 25-18.

GCC battled in the third set and after falling behind 21-14, stormed back to within one at 21-20. Both teams exchanged points to 23-22, before JCC won the final two points to take game three 25-22.

Naomi Hyde finished the night with 16 kills, 16 digs, two blocks and one ace, Kristi Knutson added 12 digs, nine kills and one ace and Tess Rebmann finished with 16 digs.

Genesee falls to 2-3 this season and will return to action this Saturday at the Jefferson CC POD tournament.
