Women’s Soccer Overpowers Jamestown 9-0

Jamestown, New York- The Cougars of Genesee Community College would score nine goals from eight different players, seven of those goals coming in the first half. The first goal came in the second minute on a goal by Sophomore defender, Megan Rinker (Leroy, New York) assisted by freshman Ruby Hoyt (Brockport, New York). Hoyt would add one her own in the eighth minute assisted by freshman forward, Savanna Scheifla (Alden, New York). Freshman midfielder, Grace Devine (Rochester, New York) would add a brace within three minutes scoring in both the nineth and eleventh minutes with another assist from Hoyt and the other from sophomore midfielder Quinn McCue (Kent, New York). Freshman, forward, Beatriz Sartorato (Resende, Brazil) scored in the 17th minute with a third assist from Hoyt. Sophomore midfielder Jordyn Ertel (East Aurora, New York) would make the score 6-0 in the 25th minute with an assist from sophomore forward, Tatum Gagne (Holley, New York). Scheifla would score the final goal of half assisted by freshman forward, Katelyn Hagstrom (Falconer, New York) to make it 7-0.

The Cougars would score two goals in the second half, the first from freshman forward, Courtney Wilson (Addison, New York) and would be assisted by Rinker. The final goal of the contest came from Hagstrom adding her own goal assisted by Devine to make the final score 9-0. The Cougars outshot the Jayhawks with 40 shots on goal throughout the match. Goalkeepers Sarah Kidder and Saskia Koops split time in goal, each making a save to secure the win.

With the win, Genesee Women's soccer improves their record to 2-0. They back on the road again as they travel to Hudson Valley Community College to take in a Saturday afternoon matchup against the Vikings.
