Women's Soccer Adds Scheifla to Recruiting Class

Scheifla signs with Genesee

Genesee Women's Soccer signed their third recruit of the year, Savanna Scheifla, on Janurary 25th. Savanna is a 5'1" dynamite forward and a 3-year varsity starter for Alden High School girls' soccer team. Savanna also plays with the Western NY Flash. She has competed on her Track and Field Team as a sprinter and pole-vaulter. Scheifla was awarded Scholar Athlete, Coaches Award, Letterman's, and the Golden Boot, all while being on Honor Roll. She will be pursuing a major in Earth Science while attending GCC.

Savanna is not the first Alden soccer player who has played for the Cougars. Grace Pastuszynski, who was the starting Defensive Midfielder on the team that played in the National Tournament in 2021, was also an Alden alum. Grace was awarded MVP during the Regional Championship game that season as well. She went on to become the starting goalie for the Genesee Women's Lax team, that also competed in their National Tournament, where Grace become one of the top lacrosse goalies in the country. "If Savanna's work ethic is anything like Grace's then I know she will be successful. Savanna has the drive and skill to take our team to another championship", stated Head Coach Jeff Reyngoudt.

Jeff, Macy, and Kelly have been working hard to add more great additions to the team. They will be signing more players in the coming months and are excited about next season's incoming class. The Cougars ended their 2022 season with a 10-4-2 record and competed at the National Tournament, finishing 4th in the country.
