Women's Soccer Adds Their First Recruits for 2023 Season

Cydney Brandl and Sarah Kidder sign to join Genesee Women's Soccer in 2023

BATAVIA, NY... Genesee Women's Soccer signed their first two recruits of the year, Sarah Kidder and Cydney Brandl, on December 4th. Sarah is a 5'3" goalkeeper and a 2-year varsity starter for Akron High School girls' soccer team. Cydney is a 4'11" midfielder and a 2-year starter for Akron High School as well. These two were captains on their team this past season. Cydney had contributed 5 goals and 12 assists for her team, while Sarah's save percentage is an overall .806. Sarah has also swam for her school and been a part of the cheerleading squad. Cydney has competed on her Track and Field Team as a hurdler for the last five years. Kidder was awarded Most Improved Player on the soccer team and also Second Team All-League, while being on Honor Roll. Brandl was Most Valuable Player for the team and First Team All-League. She is also on high honor roll and a part of the National Honor Society, as well as the Connect Life Club. Both of these athletes are going to be entering the Veterinary Technology Program after receiving a few more pre-requisite courses.

Sarah and Cydney are not the first Akron girls who has played for the Cougars. Head Coach Jeff Reyngoudt has recruited over the years from their high school and had some great players. "I'm very excited about this signing because both Sarah and Cydney have the drive, dedication, and skill that we are looking for at GCC", stated Reyngoudt. Leah Czechowski and Mackenzie O'Brien, who played on the 2018 Genesee Women's team that made it to the National Tournament that year, are also Akron alums. Both athletes were recruited to play on and were successful in their endeavors. Leah went and played at Edinboro College, while Mack played at Alfred University.

Jeff and Macy have started this recruiting season strong and are working hard to add more great additions to the team. They will be signing more players in the coming year and are excited about next season's incoming class. The Cougars ended their 2022 season with a 10-4-2 record and competed at the National Tournament, finishing 4th in the country.
