Cougars Down the Hornets for 9th Win

GCC beats Broome 6-1

BATAVIA, NY… #5 Genesee Women's Soccer picked up their 9th win of the season with a 6-1 victory over SUNY Broome.

The Cougars got on the scoreboard early as Bryn Luckey would net the first goal of the game just three minutes into the game off an assist from Kelsey Fuller. Gabby Bigham would grow the Cougar lead to 2-0 when she put a pass from Macie Riggs into the net for Genesee. About a minute later, Broome would cut the Cougar lead in half, as Arianna Michitti scored Broome's first and only goal of the contest. The 2-1 score would hold until the half.

Riggs scored the first of Genesee's four second half goals, assisted by Fuller. A little over a minute later, Chloe Barrett added another for the Cougars, assisted by Ayuka Toshimoto. Toshimoto would later grow the Cougar lead to 4-1 when she scored off a pass from Luckey. Just before the end of regulation, Genesee would add their fifth and final goal, as Carly Barrett netted a pass from Lilly Thompson to secure a 6-1 victory for Genesee.

Kellie Brewer played all ninety minutes in goal for Genesee, saving three of the four shots she faced.

The Cougars are back on their home turf on October 11 at 6pm vs. Monroe.
