Genesee Shuts Out Herkimer in Fifth Shutout of 2021

GCC beats Herkimer, 8-0

BATAVIA, NY… #6 Genesee Women's Soccer added another impressive win to their season total, shutting out Herkimer College at home, 8-0.

Genesee took the lead early thanks to Kelsey Fuller's first goal of the contest, assisted by Kiaya Condidorio, and the Cougars never looked back. Bryn Luckey would record her eight goal of the season off a pass from Ashley Bliss to give Genesee a 2-0 lead. Fuller added her second goal of the afternoon midway through the first half, assisted by Macie Riggs, and was soon followed by another Cougar goal, scored by Ashley Bliss from Fuller. Genesee would add one more before the half as Chloe Barrett buried one off a pass from Ayuka Toshimoto to give the Cougars a 5-0 lead.

Late into the second half, Genesee would add three more to the scoreboard. Lily Thompson scored her fourth of the year, assisted by Fuller. Julianna Amesbury added her third goal of the season off a pass from Bliss, and Ayuka Toshimoto chipped in her fifth goal of 2021 off an assist from Maddie Young. The Cougars would hold the 8-0 lead until the final horn, earning their fifth shutout of the year and improving to 8-1.

Kelsey Fuller finished with two goals and two assists, Ashley Bliss finished the day with one goal and two assists.

Kellie Brewer played all ninety shutout minutes in net for the Cougars, stopping the only recorded shot she faced.

The #6 Cougars are back home on October 6th for a big NJCAA Region III matchup with SUNY Broome Community College at 4pm.
