Genesee Loses First of the Year in Shutout Loss

GCC falls to William Smith JV, 4-0

BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee Women's Soccer program dropped their first game of the year in a shutout loss to William Smith JV, 4-0.

William Smith jumped out to an early lead, scoring two goals, the first from Lauren Legler and the second from Mia Tetrault, within the first twenty minutes of play. They would take that 2-0 lead into the half.

Much of the same followed in the second half, as William Smith would net their third goal of the contest about seven minutes into play as Legler chipped in her second goal of the contest. William Smith was able to add one more before the end of regulation, as Alissa Carnicelli would grow the lead to 4-0.

The Cougars couldn't find the net during the ninety minutes of regulation, putting up nine shots, six of them shots on goal.

Kellie Brewer played all ninety minutes in net for Genesee, stopping six of ten shots on goal.

Genesee (6-1) looks to add another win to the season total when they travel to Finger Lakes to take on the Lakers on September 28th.
