Riley Marconi To Continue Collegiate Career at Fredonia

Riley Marconi (#10) commits to continue her collegiate lacrosse career at SUNY Fredonia.

Genesee Women's Lacrosse has another graduating sophomore, Riley Marconi, an attack/midfielder, who will be continuing her lacrosse career next year at SUNY Fredonia. Marconi played lacrosse for Gates-Chili High School, prior to attending GCC. She will be majoring in Social Work and her GPA is currently a 3.13.

During her freshmen season, Riley was a key piece to Genesee's success. She started the season as a midfielder, but was eventually moved to attack due to her ability to get open in the offensive third. Riley always made strong cuts and defenders had a hard time holding on to her. She often helped create game changing situations. She also took the draw from time-to-time. Marconi started every game and tallied 11 goals, 4 assists, 20 grounds balls, and 8 draw controls. She was also awarded All-Conference.

Riley also played soccer at GCC and early in the fall season had suffered a major knee injury, that would end her season. She was determined to be able to play lacrosse in the spring and did everything she could during her physical therapy sessions, and then some. Riley was recovering tremendously quickly and getting stronger by the minute. Her coaching staff was not sure if she would be able to play in the beginning of the season, but they were looking forward to her making an appearance part way through, especially for regionals. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, Marconi would not be able to play her final season with the Cougars. Although she was not able to show how hard she had worked over the past year and a half, her coaches were still proud of everything she had done and continues to do.

The Athletic Department here at GCC is so extremely proud of Riley and she will be greatly missed. Good luck at SUNY Fredonia!
