CORNING, NY… The 2019-2020 season was officially underway Saturday as the women's basketball team participated in the Corning Crossover Classic and won their first two games of the season. They won their first of the campaign against the host Red Barons 72-61. They followed that performance with a 78-66 win over SUNY Broome Sunday afternoon in the second game of the Crossover Classic.

Sophomore Tylasia Weaver recorded a double-double, scoring 29 points and collecting 17 rebounds. Haley Alvord scored 12 points in her first game wearing the blue and gold. Molly Buck collected 12 rebounds off the Cougars bench.

Sunday afternoon, Genesee defeated SUNY Broome 78-66. Tylasia Weaver recorded her second straight double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds. LisBeth Pineda Polanco and Molly Buck scored 14 points each and Erina Ishiguro scored a team-high 20 points.

Genesee looks to continue their strong start in their home opener Tuesday night against Jefferson Community College at 5pm. The game will be streamed live on www.geneseeathletics.com
