BATAVIA, NY... The Genesee Cougars Swimming and Diving team took two losses Monday night against Jamestown Community College. The women's team lost 105- 101 and the men lost 82-44.
Kellie Brewer placed 1st in the women's 1 Meter Diving with a score of 116.41.
Teddy Herrmann and Vincent Strollo were both double winners on the men's side. Herrman took the 500 freestyle (6:18.60) and the 100 breaststroke (1:16.37) while Strollo took the 50 butterfly (30.69) and the 50 backstroke (35.67).
Shayna Brady took 1st in the women's 50 breaststroke with a time of 38.41 while Abby Statskey took 3rd with a time of 47.74 and Chloe Barrett 4th with a time of 47.94.
Ashley Hearn came out on top in the 1000 freestyle for the women with a time of 14:57.88 and Ashton Laird placed 2nd with a time of 15:23.36.
In the 200 Medley Relay, the women's team of Nina Bodnarskyj, Brady, Michaela Pantano, and Taylor Fletcher took 2nd with a finishing time of 2:18.46.
Herrmann finished 2nd in the 50 free (25.33). For the women, Brady placed 2nd (29.51), Fletcher 3rd (31.37), Julia Molitor 4th (34.24), and Statskey 6th (38.42).
Barrett took 2nd (2:48.03) in the 200 freestyle and Kiaya Condidorio took 3rd (3:06.41).
In the 50 butterfly, Pantano finished 2nd with a time of 32.53 and Paige Derisley finished 3rd with a time of 43.90.
Bodnarskyj placed 2nd in the 500 freestyle (7:26.87) and Condidorio placed 3rd (8:14.04).
For the 100 freestyle, Strollo took 2nd for the men (1:03.51). Pantano took 2nd (1:11.22), Molitor 3rd (1:19.53), and Derisley took 4th (1:25.29).
In the 100 Individual Medley, Laird placed 2nd with a time of 1:24.37.
Hearn finished in 2nd (1:30.15) and Statskey finished in 3rd (1:44.68) in the women's 100 breaststroke.
Barrett took 2nd in the 50 backstroke with a time of 38.30, Bodnarskyj took 3rd (41.16), and Molitor took 4th (45.49).
To conclude the night, the team of Laird, Hearn, Derisley, and Fletcher finished in 2nd place in the women's 200 Freestyle Relay with a final time of 2:05.58.
The Genesee Cougars will return to the pool to face Jamestown Community College again for their next meet on March 22.
