BATAVIA, NY... The Genesee Cougars Swimming and Diving team competed in their first meet of the season against Erie Community College on Monday March 1st in a virtual meet format. The women's team beat the Kats 98-72 and the men's team lost a close one of W52-43.

In the 200 Medley Relay the women's team of Ashton Laird, Ashley Hearn, Michaela Pantano, and Taylor Fletcher earned a 1st place finish with a time of 2:18.43.

Kellie Brewer finished 1st in 1 Meter Diving with a score of 90.60.

In the 1000 freestyle, Nina Bodnarskyj finished in 1st place with a time of 15:17.20 and Laird followed in 2nd with a finishing time of 15:47.60.

Teddy Herrmann placed 1st in the men's 200 freestyle with a time of 2:14.81. Chloe Barrett finished in 1st (2:47.61) and Kaiya Condidorio 2nd (3:04.63) for the women.

Hearn came out on top with a 1st place finish (42.41) in the 50 breaststroke and Abby Statskey finished 2nd (50.27). Herrmann earned 1st place for the men with a time of 34.84.

In the men's 50 butterfly, Vincent Strollo finished 1st with a time of 30.73. Laird finished 2nd for the women with a time of 39.78.

For the women's 50 freestyle, Paige Derisley finished 2nd (32.57), Julia Molitor 3rd (34.30), and Statskey 4th (38.06). Strollo finished in 3rd (28.59) for the men.

In the 100 Individual Medley, Pantano finished in 2nd place with a time of 1:18.65 for the women's team and Strollo also finished 2nd with a time of 1:14.25 for the men.

In the women's 500 freestyle Hearn finished in 2nd (7:17.62) and Condidorio finished in 3rd (8:29.74).

Herrmann earned another 1st place finish in the men's 100 freestyle with a time of 58.45. For the women, Fletcher placed 4th (1:13.80), Derisley placed 5th (1:14.68), followed by Molitor in 6th (1:19.92).

Barrett finished 2nd with a time of 38.65 and Bodnarskyj finished in 3rd with a time of 38.84 in the women's 50 backstroke.

The night concluded with the women's 200 Freestyle Relay. The team of Barrett, Bodnarskyj, Fletcher, and Pantano finished 2nd with a time of 2:10.73. Finishing in 3rd was the team of Molitor, Statskey, Condidorio, and Derisley with a time of 2:27.25.

The Cougars next meet will be on March 8 against Jamestown Community College.
