Cougars Have Top-Two Finishes at Genesee Sprint Invitational

BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee Swimming and Diving Teams had a pair of top-two finishes at the Genesee Sprint Invitational on Saturday. The Sprint Invite was the first chance the home crowd could see both teams compete all season. The men placed first overall and the women placed second.

The men's team of Carlitos Sanchez, Ferran Martinez, Ryan Mahaney, and Evan Fix won the 200 Medley Relay. The team of Weston Head, Ethan Heim, Tyler Stachowiak, and Brandon Cutter placed second to sweep the top two positions for Genesee.  Ferran Martinez and Tyler Stachowiak finished first and second in the 500 Freestyle. Ethan Heim and Brandon Cutter finished first and second in the 50 Breaststroke. Carlitos Sanchez won the 50 Freestyle over teammates Ryan Mahaney, Brandon Brown, and Evan Fix, who all placed inside the top five. Ryan Mahaney placed first in the 50 Butterfly with teammate Ferran Martinez finished second. Weston Head, Brandon Brown, and Evan Fix swept the podium finishes in the 100 Freestyle. Carlitos Sanchez and Tyler Stachowiak were first and second in the 50 Backstroke. Ferran Martinez and Weston Head were the top two finishers in the 200 Freestyle. Brandon Brown won the 100 IM with Ethan Heim in second. The team of Evan Fix, Brandon Brown, Tyler Stachowiak, and Carlitos Sanchez placed first in the 200 Freestyle Relay with Weston Head, Ethan Heim, Brandon Cutter, and Ryan Mahaney placing second. 

The women's team of Elizabeth Richardson, Rayelle Merrell, Natalie Amico, and Ana Carolina Cerezer Pinto finished second in the 200 Yard Medley Relay. Libby Richardson finished third in the 500 Freestyle. Rayelle Merrell finished fifth in the 50 Breaststroke. Ana Cerezer placed fifth in the 50 Freestyle.  Natalie Amico finished second in the 50 Butterfly. Rayelle Merrell finished fourth in the 100 Freestyle with Ana Cerezer placing sixth.  Natalie Amico finished second in the 50 Backstroke. Libby Richardson finished second in the 100 IM. The team of Natalie Amico, Rayelle Merrell, Ana Cerezer and Libby Richardson placed second in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
