Genesee Takes Down FMCC for 10th Win

GCC defeats FMCC 5-1

BATAVIA, NY… #2 Genesee Men's Soccer earned their tenth win of the season with a victory of Fulton-Montgomery, 5-1.

Romaine Watkis put Genesee on the scoreboard first with his 8th goal of the season off a pass from Nathan Gilhooly. A little over ten minutes later, the Raiders would even the score at 1-1 thanks to a goal from Roberto Salinas Juar. The score would hold at 1-1 until the closing seconds of the first half when Morgan Williams broke the tie and netted his first goal of the contest, assisted by Marc McCann.

About six minutes into the second half, the Genesee lead would grow to 3-1 as Gilhooly scored his first goal of the game. Williams would later add his second goal of the afternoon, assisted by Watkis, to give Genesee a 4-1 lead. The Cougars would add one more score before the end of regulation when Gilhooly put in his second goal of the contest, securing the 5-1 victory for Genesee.

Kyle McLeish played all ninety minutes for Genesee in net, saving five of the six shots he faced.

Morgan Williams finished the day with two goals, to bring his season total to eight. Gilhooly's two goals were also his seventh and eighth of the season. Spike Pope also was credited with an assist, his third of the year.

Genesee hits the road for Jamestown Community College on October 13 to take on the Jayhawks at 5:30pm.
