Double Overtime Thriller Ends in 1-1 Tie

GCC and BSC tie at 1-1

BATAVIA, NY… After a double overtime thriller, Genesee and Bryant & Stratton (SYR) ended the contest with a 1-1 tie.

A highly contested and competitive first half of action found the Cougars and the Bobcats still locked at 0-0 at the half. The Bobcats would get on the scoreboard first however, as Salvatore Delorio broke the tie just 3 minutes into the second half, giving the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.

Genesee was able to get a goal back when Matheus Spina took a pass from Jackson Parris and scored with only 4 minutes remaining in regulation to even the game at 1-1.

After a short five minute intermission, the teams took the field for the first overtime period. Outstanding defense on both sides of the field yielded another tie score at the end of the first extra session. The second overtime period saw much of the same stellar play on defense, with both teams making crucial stops when the game was on the line. Neither team was able to break the tie before the final horn sounded at the end of the second overtime, resulting in both teams walking away with a tie.

Kyle McLeish played all 110 minutes of the contest in goal for Genesee, making 4 saves on 5 shots on goal.

The Cougars (5-0-1) head to Finger Lakes on September 28 to take on the Lakers at 5pm.
