Six Cougars Named NJCAA Men's Lacrosse All-Americans

The National Junior Athletic Association (NJCAA) has selected six Genesee Community College Men?s Lacrosse players as All-Americans.

The National Junior Athletic Association (NJCAA) has selected six Genesee Community College Men's Lacrosse players as All-Americans. Sophomore Jacob Smeader (Hamburg, NY) received a first team selection. His teammates: sophomore Ryan Stapleton (Hamburg, NY), freshman Spencer Nyhart (Hamburg, NY), sophomore Austin Palmer (Hamburg, NY), sophomore Tyler Goode (Canandaigua, NY) and sophomore Baden Boyenko (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) all received second team selections. 

Jacob Smeader (defense, first team) played all eight games for the Cougars finishing 3rd nationally with 22 caused turnovers and 13th nationally with 35 ground balls. Smeader was selected to the NJCAA Region III All-Region Team and the NJCAA Men's Lacrosse National All-Tournament Team.

Tyler Goode (attack, second team) tallied 30 points for Genesee, netting 10 goals and his 20 assists placed him 3rd overall in the NJCAA for assists. Goode was also selected to the NJCAA Region III All-Region Team.

Austin Palmer (midfield, second team) contributed 21 points for the Cougars, scoring 13 goals and adding another 8 assists. Palmer was also selected to the NJCAA Region III All-Region Team.

Baden Boyenko (attack, second team) led the way offensively for Genesee this season, leading the team in goals scored with 28 over his 8 games played, ranking him 3rd overall across the NJCAA in goals scored. He also led Genesee in points and was 10th nationally with 40 points. Boyenko was also selected to the NJCAA Region III All-Region Team.

Spencer Nyhart (attack, second team) added another 20 goals on 53 shots for the Cougars and ended his 2021 season with 27 total points. Nyhart was also selected to the NJCAA Region III All-Region Team.

Ryan Stapleton (defense, second team) finished his season ranked 12th nationally with 12 caused turnovers and was also selected to the NJCAA Region III All- Region Team.

Genesee's All-Americans helped lead the Cougars to the NJCAA Final Four, where they ended their run for another championship with a tough loss in the National Semi-finals to Harford Community College, 15-9.
