The Genesee Community College baseball team posted back-to-back 12-run games to sweep the Red Barons in Corning May 3.

The Cougars scored six of the 12 runs in the first game in the first inning; and then added another collective six runs in innings three, four and five to reach 12 in the 12-0 shutout win.

Tyler Prospero went the distance from the mound and allowed four hits in five innings with four strikeouts from the mound to earn the shutout win.

L'Shandry Kirindongo led the team in hits with three – two being doubles – in the first game; while a pair of hits each came from Andrew Shapiro, Jakob MacLeod, and Bryant Fontanez with the latter stroking a triple.

Also hitting a triple was Colin Noeth, while Shannon Folkes had a three-RBI homerun. Rounding out the hit parade were Justin Taveras, Edgardo Jurado, and Justin Baly.

In the second game, Genesee spotted Corning a 1-0 lead after the first inning before scoring the next 11 runs en route to a 12-3 win.

The Cougars provided plenty of double trouble for the Red Barons with one-third of Genesee's 15 hits being doubles.

Fontanez had a pair of those doubles in leading the team with three hits and four runs. A pair of hits came each from Folkes, Keny Sanchez, Kirindongo, and Taveras, with the latter stroking the team's only homerun in the second game.

Also registering hits were Shapiro, Baly, MacLeod, and Nate Darwin; with the latter pair each recording a double.

Noeth pitched the first five innings and allowed six hits with three strikeouts in picking up the win, while Quentin Tilley had two innings of relief work with no hits and two strikeouts.

Genesee rounds out the regular season with four home doubleheaders beginning May 6 when they host Finger Lakes.
