The Lady Cannoneers Swat Away the Lady Cougars

Jefferson heads to Batavia, NY, to take on the Cougars of Genesee in a doubleheader matchup. The Cannoneers' offense started early, putting up 4 runs in the second inning.  Emily Birmingham sliced a 2-run triple in the inning to propel Jefferson into the lead.  The offense kept rolling throughout the game as every Jefferson player reached base safely in the game and the team recorded 13 hits.  Kiannah Ward had 3 hits in the game with 2 RBIs whilst Jadyn Childers and Torie Moore tallied two RBIs of their own.  Rachael Shackleton pitched a complete game with 11 strikeouts as the Cannoneers go on to win game 1 by a score of 10-4

Game 2 was led by the offense once again.  Much like game 1, every Cannoneer batter that went to the plate reached base safely as the team recorded 10 hits and 9 base on balls.  Brooke Beleza had 4 RBIs and Hailey McGrew recorded 3 RBIs on a bases clearing double.  Torie Moore continued her hot hitting on the day driving in 3 more runs in the second game.  Emily Birmingham was dominant in the circle taking a no hitter into the 4th inning.  Birmingham struck out 7 allowing just 1 earned run as the Cannoneers win game 2 14-1 in 5 innings.
