Panthers Drop Home Finale to #3 Genesee

The Tompkins Cortland Community College men's soccer team wrapped up the home portion of their 2022 schedule Sunday, hosting #3 ranked Genesee Community College. The visiting Cougars showed why they are so highly ranked, dominating the Panthers in a 10-0 win. Tompkins Cortland is now 2-6 overall, 2-5 in Region 3, and 0-2 in the Mid-State Athletic Conference. Genesee improves to 6-2 overall, 5-0 in region, and 2-0 in the MSAC.

The Panthers went 1-3 at home this year, with all three losses to teams ranked in the top five in the nation. Sunday's game saw Genesee open the scoring in the 12th minute. The Cougars, who are averaging nearly 9 goals per game in Region 3 action, added four more in the opening half. The second half saw five more goals, with the last coming on a penalty kick late in the game.

Brandon Randall (Newark Valley/Newark Valley H.S.) had two saves in goal in the first half and Luke Maza (Freeville/Dryden H.S.) had three in the second half.
