Jayhawks Sweep the Cougars

BATAVIA - Looking to get back in the win column, the Jamestown Community College volleyball team defeated host Genesee Community College, 3-0 Tuesday evening.

 

The Jayhawks (2-4) took the match in 25-10, 25-12, and 25-19 sets.

 

Freshman outside hitter Megan Cotter (Jamestown, NY/Southwestern High) led the way on offense, coming away with 11 kills. Freshman middle hitter Claire Pumford (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) added eight kills with freshman outside hitter Emma McCarthy (Olean, NY/Allegany-Limestone Central) chipping in with five kills.

 

Freshman setter Madison Johnson (Panama, NY/Panama Central) facilitated the offense, coming away with 27 assists.

 

McCarthy had a team-high 14 digs on the night with Claire Pumford adding 11 digs. Johnson chipped in with eight digs on the evening.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action this Thursday, September 16th, as they host Monroe Community College.
