T-Wolves struggle to find footing vs. GCC

Niagara County Community College was overmatched by No. 8 Genesee Community College, 10-0, in Region III action on Wednesday afternoon.

The host Thunderwolves, who were coming off their first victory since the fall of 2018, were plagued by injuries throughout the contest.

NCCC dropped to 1-1, while the Cougars moved to 3-0.

NCCC freshman goalkeeper Madison Austin, who is playing out of position, was peppered with shots throughout the contest. She was credited with 12 saves - several of which were of the point-blank variety - as N-Trip was out-shot 37-6.

Freshman forward Rachel Chunco, who was recently named Region III Women's Soccer Player of the Week after scoring four goals in last weekend's season opener, again led the T-Wolves with three shots on goal.

Kelsey Fuller and Ashley Bliss scored two goals each for a balanced GCC attack.

NCCC returns to the pitch at 1 p.m. Saturday when SUNY Broome (0-1) visits the Sanborn campus.
