On January 17th, the Genesee Cougars signed their first ever swimmer, Olivia Carter. Olivia is a 5'10" backstroke and freestyle swimmer and has been on varsity for 4 years at Medina High School. Her best time for the 100 backstroke is a 1:10 and she was also a part of the 200 Medley Relay when they broke their schools record.

Olivia also signed for soccer as the ninth signee for the upcoming season. She is a center-midfielder and a 4-year varsity starter. Carter was awarded Second Team All-League and the Pony Award, which is basically a "Rookie of the Year" award, for soccer. As well as being a swimmer and a soccer player, Olivia has been on varsity for her high school's track team for the last five years. She was awarded All-League for the Long Jump and got 2nd place in the High Jump and Triple Jump. Carter is also a good student and was awarded the Honorati Award at her high school for her academics.

Olivia was put on Head Coach Jeff Reyngoudt's radar when current Genesee swimmer, Ashton Laird, had talked about her backstroke times. After contacting Carter about swimming, two of Genesee's current soccer players, Brianna McMullen and Alana Wilson-Drewery, had stated that she is also an incredible soccer player. Olivia came for a visit on the 17th and made her decision to commit to the Cougars on the spot. "We set up a signing for her immediately when she had decided to commit. I can tell that Olivia is going to be a great addition to both teams and that she has a strong work ethic. We also got to know her sister and father while they were here and she comes from a great family. We're excited to have another big, strong, gritty center midfielder and a quick and tenacious swimmer", stated Reyngoudt.

The Genesee Cougar's Coaching staff are still in the process of recruiting for their 2020 team and have some more signings coming up in the new year. If you are interested in trying out for next year's 2020 Genesee Cougars, please email Jeff Reyngoudt at jcreyngoudt@genesee.edu.
