BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee Community College women’s lacrosse program signed their first ever Goalkeeper, Amanda Lawrence. Amanda is a Grand Island, NY native and is coming to Genesee this fall to major in General Studies with a focus on Engineering.

Lawrence has a 3.7 overall GPA, averaged a .603 save percentage, and had 140 saves during her senior season. She was awarded “Defensive Player of the Year” this past spring season as well. Amanda also played Tennis for Grand Island as a Doubles Player.

“In the three years that we have had the program, we have never had an actual lacrosse keeper. We have always just taken soccer players that had grit and trained them to play the position. This has always been our missing piece on the team and we are very excited to finally have a legit goalkeeper” says Cougars Head Coach Jeff Reyngoudt.

The Genesee Cougars finished their season with a record of 6-5, and was the #3 seed in the NJCAA Region III Women’s Lacrosse Championships. If you are interested in trying out for the upcoming season, please email Jeff Reyngoudt at jcreyngoudt@genesee.edu.
