BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee Community College women's soccer dropped an overtime thriller to the Mohawk Valley Community College Hawks 2-1 in double overtime Saturday afternoon.

The Hawks got the first goal of the contest halfway through the opening half as Emily Berube found a way to beat Cougars goalkeeper Madison Papaj. The Cougars would apply pressure to the Hawks but would go into the locker room trailing 1-0.

Genesee would tie the game in the 80th minute as Carleigh Folts scored off a Diante Scheepers shot.

Both teams needed overtime and then double overtime to decide the game and it was Hawks forward Jenna Thompson scoring the game-winner with 2:37 remaining in the period.

Genesee (2-1) heads on the road for the first time this season on Wednesday, September 4 at Corning Community College. Game time is at 3 pm.
