1st place in the Genesee Women's Soccer 8v8 Outdoor tournament: Akron

BATAVIA, NY – On Saturday afternoon, the Genesee Community College women's soccer team hosted their inaugural 18 and under 8v8 outdoor tournament. Teams came from throughout the region with each team playing two games with the overall number one seed getting an automatic bid into the semifinals.

The play-in game saw Genesee 1 take on Genesee 2 with Genesee 1 winning 1-0 in an evenly matched contest. Genesee 1 would then play Williamson with Williamson winning 2-0 to move on to the championship game. The other semi-final matchup saw Albion take on Akron with Akron winning 1-0. The championship game saw Akron pull away and defeated Williamson 4-1.

Cougars Head Coach Jeff Reyngoudt and Assistant Coach Macy Reyngoudt were extremely pleased with the level of play and positive attitudes that were shown during the tournament. Both were also happy with the turnout for their inaugural outdoor tournament.
