Women's Soccer inks pair to LOI's

The Genesee Community College women's soccer program recently signed two local student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to begin the building of next year's recruiting class. Nicole Mauro (Holley, NY) and Danielle Zale (Lancaster, NY) have committed to joining the program beginning next fall.

Mauro will join the Genesee midfield from Holley High School where she played for Coach Jill Mann. A Genesee Region All-Star and team captain during her senior season, Mauro scored seven goals and recorded five assists. She is in the top-ten of academics in her class and also plays basketball for the Hawks.

Zale will contribute to a GCC defense that earned eight shutout wins in 2013 allowed just 1.37 goals per game. Also a member of the Lancaster High School girl's lacrosse team, Zale intends to study Business at Genesee.

Genesee reached the Region III Group B Finals and put together a record of 13-4-1 in 2013. The Lady Cougars were ranked as high as fifth in the NJCAA National Poll and had seven members earn All-Conference selections, four named All-Region and one NJCAA All-American. Coach Reyngoudt was named the Western New York Athletic Conference Coach of the Year.
