Women’s Lacrosse Team Records Another Double-Digit Win

Women's lacrosse team celebrate

The Genesee Community College women's lacrosse team needed less than eight minutes to go ahead of visiting North Country Community College by a 3-0 margin and in the end that's all they would need on their way to a 13-2 win April 14.

Rachel Ladd led the team with seven goals including all of the team's four second-half goals. Ladd also led the team in shots with 10 and shots on net with seven and converted two of Genesee's three free-position goals, while also picking up a half-dozen groundballs.

Genesee out-shot the Saints 35-10 offensively, while Sara Zakes shut the door at the opposite end with four stops.

Bri Heers had a four-point outing from a pair of goals and pair of assists. Leah Herman (one goal, one assist) and Molly Barden (two assists) rounded out the multi-point scorers, with the latter leading the team in groundballs with a dozen on the day.

Katline Cartwright, Ashley Barclay and Kali Wright also had goals for the Cougars. Herman scooped up eight groundballs, while Julie Kommer had six as the Cougars dominated the ground game with a 56-30 edge in groundballs for the contest.

The Cougars are scheduled to host the Saints again April 15 with a scheduled 12 p.m. start.
