BATAVIA, NY… The department of intercollegiate athletics at Genesee Community College is announcing the 2019-2020 schedule for the women’s basketball program. The team is looking forward to build upon 2018-19, which saw them place fourth in NJCAA Region III with an overall record of 17-11, and 5-5 in the Western New York Athletic Conference. Christie McGee-Ross will be entering her 12th season behind the bench of the Blue and Gold and once again be joined by longtime assist Dena Piatek and for her second season, former Cougars standout De’Yara Burrell.

The season starts on October 12 as the Cougars will participate in the Onondaga Community College showcase and then play Bryant & Stratton on October 26th at the Burt Flickinger Center in Buffalo. The Cougars will enter the month of November on the road at Corning Community College November 2 and 3 to play Corning and SUNY Broome. Genesee will play its first of 12 home games inside the Anthony T Zambito Gymnasium on November 5 against Jefferson Community College at 5pm. The Cougars will play in the tip-off tournament at Niagara County Community College the following weekend against Allegany of Maryland and Bryant & Stratton College of Albany. Home games against Onondaga, Lakeland, and Bryant & Stratton (Rochester) will wrap up the month.

The annual Cougar Classic set for December 7-8 will see Genesee host Niagara County Community College, Community College of Rhode Island, and Bryant & Stratton. Before the Cougar Classic, Genesee will host Bryant & Stratton College of Syracuse on December 4. Genesee will travel to Finger Lakes December 10 before playing in the Thunderwolves Classic at Niagara CC December 14 and 15 against Henry Ford and CCBC-Essex.

January will see the Cougars play host to Herkimer on January 14 before starting Western New York Athletic Conference play at Mercyhurst Northeast on the 25th and hosting Erie Community College on the 29.

February will see conference games against Niagara, Jamestown, Erie, and Mercyhurst Northeast. The playoffs begin with the sub-regional game February 26 before the Region III Championships the weekend of February 29 and March 1.

The 2019-2020 NJCAA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championships will take place March 18-22 in Harrison, AR.
