Lady Cougars Run into Opportunistic Jayhawk Team

The Genesee Community College women's basketball team ran into one of the best shooting opposition's of the season in Jamestown in the team's next-to-last Western New York Athletics Conference game.

Not only did the Jayhawks convert on 50 percent of their shots, but they also threw up 60-plus attempts to out-score Genesee 77-42.

Kierra Perl may have played her best game for the Cougars in with a double-double by registering a team-high 17 points while adding 11 rebounds.

Perl did her best to give her team a chance that included putting the Cougars ahead twice in the early going, but Jamestown responded with its accuracy from the floor to take the lead.

Jasmine Holmes was close to joining her in double-double status, but fell a bucket shy with eight points and led the team in rebounds with 13 and added a block.

Reika Murota sank three threes to end up with nine points, while Rosalyn Sealey added six points for Genesee. TaLia Burgess led the team in assists with three.

Genesee stays on the road and completes its regular season in Erie, Pa. Feb. 28 with a game against Mercyhurst North East.
