Lady Cougars Rally with Three Solid Quarters against Jayhawks

The Genesee Community College women's basketball team played visiting Jamestown Community College within a pair of scores during the game's final three quarters, but Jamestown's early explosiveness allowed the Jayhawks to take the contest at 87-56 Feb. 10.

Genesee out-scored the Jayhawks in the final quarter making the contest a 54-48 game for the final three quarters. Three Cougars hit double-digits that included Rosalyn Sealey, Kierra Perl and Reika Murota.

Sealey led the team with 16 points and also had a team-high in assists with four. Perl added 14 points to go with seven boards, while Murota got 12 of her 14 points from threes with three boards and three assists.

TaLia Burgess was the team leader in rebounds with 10 and also added seven points. Rachel Meyer rounded out the scoring with a half-dozen points and three assists.

Jamestown was hot out of the gate and their 25-point lead after the first quarter carried them the rest of the contest.

Genesee next travels to Buffalo Feb. 14 to face Erie Community College at 5:30 p.m.
