The Genesee Community College women's basketball team traveled to Ohio to face the Lakeland Community College Lakers and started the game with a 9-0 run that took the Lakers almost two quarters to recover from, but when they finally did Lakeland went on a roll of their own in a 102-52 win over Genesee Nov. 21.

Rosalyn Sealey led the Cougars in scoring with 16 points and was the catalyst behind the impressive start with four of the nine points. Sealy hit her third basket of the game to restore Genesee's nine-point lead at 11-2 after Lakeland finally got on the board.

Lakeland slowly crawled back and took the lead in the final minute of the first as the quarter ended with the Lakers in front, 17-15.

Genesee rallied and twice tied the game at 17 and 19 in the second and re-took the lead with a Kierra Perl bucket that made it 25-24 midway through the second. Sealey gave the Cougars a second lead at 27-26 as the teams traded leads several times in the second. A Reika Murota three tied the game at 31 late in the second, but the Lakers finished with a 12-3 run to take a 43-34 lead at the half.

The Lakers started the second with a double-digit run that put the game out of reach for Genesee. Estella Anderson had nine points from the bench and Jasmine Holmes had a team-high 10 rebounds. Both Anderson and Titilopemi Olusola added seven boards, while Sealey and Sierra Chudy had three assists apiece.

The Cougars next host Monroe Community College Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m.
