A second half turnaround had the Genesee Community College women's basketball team in position to win its first Western New York Athletic Conference game of the season on Saturday afternoon, but the Cougars saw their comeback fall just short against Jamestown Community College.
After shooting just 6/32 and managing only 13 points in the first half, GCC clawed back and eventually took the lead late in the second half.
Dashawna Jenifer helped spark the comeback and got Genesee to with four after a three-point play five-minutes into the second half. Macey McCulley kept the charge going, scoring baskets to get GCC to within two (35-33), and then within one (38-37).
Down by two with less than three minutes to play, Terra Clanton hit a corner three to give GCC its first lead of the game at 43-42.
Jamestown responded and after exchanging baskets, the Jayhawks took a one-point lead with under 30-seconds to play.
The Cougars had a look at a last-second jumper, but couldn't convert and fell, 46-45.
Genesee (5-15, 0-6) will return to action tomorrow at 12 p.m. at home against Herkimer County Community College.
