GCC swimmers Kyle Podlaski and Angel Priest have been named the Male and Female Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 23.

Podlaski swam to a combined four first place individual titles last week and teamed up for a pair of relay wins at the Alfred State and Jamestown CC Invites.

He paced the 1650 freestyle (18:45.13), 200 back (2:10.99) and 200 IM (2:14.18) at Alfred State and won the 100 back (1:01.13) at Jamestown CC. He was also a member of the relay teams that won the 400 medley (4:02.99) and 400 free (3:33.88).

Priest was the top swimmer in a combined five individual races last week for the GCC swimming and diving team, representing the Cougars at the Alfred State and Jamestown CC invitationals.

She won three races at the Alfred State meet, topping the 100 back (1:09.81), 200 back (2:29.41) and 200 IM (2:33.18). She continued at the Jamestown CC meet by winning the 200 IM (2:35.20) and the 100 back (1:09.47) and teamed up to win the 400 medley relay (4:59.24) and 400 free relay (4:19.10).

Genesee will return to the pool this weekend at the Herkimer College Invite.
