Genesee Takes Three Out of Four on the Weekend

BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee Community College softball team won three out of four NJCAA Region III contests over the weekend, sweeping Cayuga Community College and splitting their doubleheader with SUNY Broome.

The first game against the Cayuga Spartans saw Sam Tatarski pitch the victory. A balanced offensive attack from throughout the lineup propelled the Cougars to the 10-2 victory. Brittany Cole pitched game two for Genesee, which saw the Cougars come out victorious 13-5. Just like in game one, the Cougars had contributions throughout the lineup to secure the win.

In game one against SUNY Broome, Brittany Cole recorded the win while pitching 6 1/3rd innings and Emily Kams earned the save. The Cougars would pick up the offense in the second inning while scoring four runs. They would add one in the third, four in the fourth, and five in the fifth to earn the 14-10 win. The nightcap game against the Hornets saw Emily Kams pitched a complete game in the 3-2 loss. Taylor Stefaniak and Kennedy Lampart scored runs for the Cougars in the contest.

Genesee will be home on Sophomore Day on Saturday, May 11 against Onondaga Community College. First pitch of the doubleheader will begin at 1 pm.
