BATAVIA, NY… The department of intercollegiate athletics at Genesee Community College is announcing the 2019 schedule for the men’s soccer program. All home games will take place on the turf field at the Richard C. Call Arena on the Batavia campus of Genesee Community College.
Head Coach Ken Gavin returns behind the bench for his 12th season. The Cougars men’s soccer team is looking for another trip to the NJCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament in hopes of the program’s second National Championship in three seasons. Genesee is the four-time and reigning NJCAA Region III Champions.
The Cougars will host Clinton Community College in their season opener on Saturday, August 24 before hosting North Country the following day. The end of August will see Genesee host Mohawk Valley Community College.
Genesee will start the month of September on the road with contests at Corning (September 4) and travel to Long Island to take on Suffolk and Nassau September 7 and 8 respectively. The next two games are at home against Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) foe Niagara on September 11 and against region opponent Cayuga on the 18th. After two road games at Hudson Valley and Tompkins Cortland, Genesee returns home to take on Erie and CCBC Essex to end the month of September.
Heading into October, the Cougars host Jamestown on the 2nd followed by a road contest at Herkimer College on October 5. Genesee will head down the thruway to Canandaigua to take on Finger Lakes CC on Wednesday, October 9 before returning home to host University of Maine at Fort Kent on October 11. Genesee finishes the regular season on the road at Fulton Montgomery on October 12 and at SUNY Broome on October 19.
Postseason play will open up with the Region III Sub Regionals on October 29. The NJCAA Region III Men’s Soccer Championships will take place on Sunday, November 3rd at Genesee Community College. After the Region Championships, the 2019 NJCAA Division III Men’s Soccer National Championships will take place November 14-17 in Herkimer, NY.
