No. 4 Men’s Soccer Team Upsets Undefeated No. 1 Herkimer with Shutout Win

The No. 4 Genesee Community College men's soccer team upset visiting No.1 Herkimer 2-0 Oct 6.

Genesee scored about 25 minutes into the contest and then 25 minutes later for the shutout win.

Current back-to-back National Junior College Athletic Association Men's Soccer Player of the Week Rodrigo Albuquerque got the game winner, while Jose Manoel Cavalini added an insurance marker six minutes into the second half.

Hiago Barros de Souza set-up the game winner and Ed Port assisted on the Cougars' second goal.

The top-ranked Generals entered the game at 13-0 having allowed only three goals the entire season. The contest was physical with over 50 combined fouls.

Adrian Bergman was perfect defending the Genesee net with five saves to record the team's eighth shutout in its last 10 starts.

Seven Cougar shots found the target with only Albuquerque getting more than one. Each team had three corner kicks.

The Cougars next host Finger Lakes Oct 10 at 6 p.m.
