The Genesee Community College men's soccer team is ranked No. 3 in the nation via the 2017 NJCAA's Division III preseason poll after having an outstanding 2016 season.

The Cougars fell to eventual national champion Richland (TX) in the semifinals, but rebounded with a consolation win against host Herkimer (NY) to finish as one of the top-three teams in the country.

Last season, the Cougars were just one of five teams to be included in every 2016 NJCAA poll finishing as high as No. 3, but never lower than the sixth position after finishing 16-2-2 overall.

This upcoming season, GCC will host the Regionals Oct. 28, but will play an 18-game regular season prior to that.

The schedule kicks off with a home matchup against Mercer County CC, Aug. 26 at 12 p.m.

Eight games follow in September with the latter four at home that feature games against Niagara County CC (Sept. 13), Cayuga CC (Sept. 20), Hudson Valley CC (Sept. 24), and Erie CC (Sept. 28).

Only three of the team's nine October games are home with contests against Jamestown CC (Oct. 4), Fulton-Montgomery CC (Oct. 8), and Mercyhurst North East (Oct. 17).
