No. 2 Cougars End Regular Season with 25-3 win at Herkimer

The No. 2 GCC men's lacrosse team won its regular season finale on the road at Herkmier College on Saturday, 25-3.

Genesee built a 7-1 lead after the first quarter and upped the margin to 15 at the half, taking a 16-1 lead into the break.

Darin Eakins limited Herkimer to just one first half goal in net, stopping two shots before giving way to Garrett Lazore, who made five saves in the second half.

GCC shut out Herkimer in the third quarter and scored nine times in the second half to cruise to the win.

Baden Boyenko led the offense with seven goals and an assist, Alex Mack added six goals and an assist, Pat Van Bortle finished with five goals and an assist, Davis Prince chipped in three goals and assisted on three and Anson Gardner scored twice.

Brad Hejmanowski was 25 of 32 on face-offs and led the Cougars with 12 ground balls. Chase Neibert collected six ground balls and caused one turnover, and Daniel Blocho finished with six ground balls.

Genesee finishes the regular season 10-2 and will now move on to the Region III playoffs First round matchup, date and time to be announced.
