Genesee Defeats Monroe; Snaps Six-Game Skid

BATAVIA, NY… The Genesee men's basketball team earned their first Western New York Athletic Conference victory of the season on Saturday afternoon, by defeating the Monroe Community College Tribunes 68-63. The victory puts the Cougars' record to 10-8 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.

Reigning Region III Male Athlete of the Week Jamir Cheek scored a team-high 16 points, including some key baskets towards the end of the game to secure the victory. Brandon Speller was key off the Genesee bench scoring 12 points and collecting six rebounds. Javin Williams, Souleymane Gueye, and Jarett Haines all scored double-digit points for the Cougars. 

Genesee returns home on Wednesday, January 30, as they welcome the Niagara County Community College Thunderwolves with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 pm.
