Cougars Run into Hot-Shooting Kats Team

The Genesee Community College men's basketball team ran into a hot-shooting Erie Community College Feb. 14. Erie shot almost 59 percent from the field and added 39 points from threes at a shooting percentage of 50 to score 110 points to Genesee's 70.

Genesee held its last lead at 10-9 early in the first half before the Kats poured it on and re-took the lead for the rest of the contest.

National Junior College Athletic Association D-II Player of the Week Brian Fobbs led the Cougars with 22 points and 15 rebounds in recording another double-double performance.

Two other Genesee players registered double-digit points with Caylen Williams scoring 14 and Rahmel Thompson adding 10. Williams also had a team-high six assists for the Cougars.

Genesee will now need some help to secure one of the two playoff byes as they fell to third in Western New York Athletic Conference standings.

Genesee returns home to host the Thunderwolves Feb. 17 with a 3 p.m. start.
