Men’s Basketball Team Improves Win Streak to Three

Men's basketball action against Durham College

The Genesee Community College men's basketball team extended its winning streak to three with a pair of tournament wins this past weekend. The Cougars recorded back-to-back 100-point performances and had five players register double-digit point-performances in each of those contests.

First, Genesee crushed the Community College of Rhode Island 114-93, Dec.9 and kept the momentum going with a win over Durham College of Ontario, Canada 101-59 Dec. 10 in the Cougars' Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament.

Against Durham, the Cougars started the game with six attempts from outside the arc sinking five and never looked back. Brain Fobbs had two of those and went on to lead the team in scoring with 21 points and was the lone Cougar to record a double-double with a team-high 16 rebounds.

Of the team's other four double-digit scorers, Brandon Peters came closest at also hitting a double-double with 10 points and a team-high nine assists. Jaheem Page (18 points), Caylen Williams (16 points) and Rahmel Thompson (15) rounded out the rest of team's top scorers.

Fobbs, Williams, Thompson and Page also had double-digit points the night before against the Knights, while Jarett Haines added 13 for the Cougars from the bench. Peters also had nine assists in that game and finished with 18 for the tournament.

Fobbs once again had the most Cougar points with 28, while Thompson also broke the 20-point plateau with 21 and added a team-high eight rebounds against Rhode Island.

In scoring a season-high 114, the Cougars recorded 42 of those points from threes and shot an impressive 50 percent from beyond the arc.
