Genesee Pitchers Give Up One Hit in Doubleheader Sweep

KISSIMMEE, FL – It was a day for Genesee Community College pitching, as Jakob MacLeod threw a no-hitter and Jonathan Toro tossed a 1-hitter as the Cougars swept Hibbing Community College (Minn.)  26-0 and Vermillion CC (Minn.) 13-1.

In the first game, MacLeod (Toronto) went four innings, struck out eight before giving way to Elizam De Jesus who threw one no-hit inning and had a strikeout.

In the second game, Jonathan Toro threw a complete-game 1-hitter (five-inning game, 10-run rule) with five strikeouts and two walks. At the plate, Deion Rosalia had a monster day, going 7-for-9 with a 3-run home run, two doubles, and eight RBI's for GCC (4-1).

Also, for the Cougars over two games, Jordi Agosto was 5-for-8 with seven runs and two RBI's, Rodolfo Rodriguez was 4-for-7 with six runs, two RBI's and a stolen base, and Eliel Martinez had three hits, three runs and stole three bases.

Gabe Diaz was 4-for-4 with two doubles, five RBI's and three runs in game one while Bryant Fontanez had two hits, four RBI's and two runs, Frankie Santiago had two hits, an RBI, three runs and four stolen bases, and MacLeod, Christian Torres, and catcher Briann Castillo had two hits and two RBI's plus threw two runners out attempting to steal second.

Genesee takes on TNXL and Lewis & Clark College Sunday in the RussMatt Spring Break Baseball Classic in Kissimmee, Florida.
