Women's Volleyball Extends Winning Streak

BATAVIA, N.Y. – No. 7 Finger Lakes Community College Volleyball completed their 6th sweep of the season with a win over Genesee Community College Monday night. The Lakers completed the 3-0 sweep winning sets 1-3 by a score of 25-9, 25-11 and 25-9. The Lakers dominance continues, as they extended their winning streak to five.

Laker's Volleyball currently sits at number 7 in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III volleyball rankings. The Lakers well rounded attack has been one of the biggest strengths of the team.

Monday night, Freshman Emma Sipos (Canandaigua, N.Y./ Canandaigua) stepped up, accumulating 4 kills, 6 digs and 8 aces. Sophomore Brandy Morrison (Macedon, N.Y./ Palmyra-Macedon) played a large role in the Lakers attack, adding 9 kills, 2 digs and 1 assist for the day.

On the day, Freshman Jenna Wallace (Baldwinsville, N.Y./ Baldwinsville) added 6 aces and 8 assists while Freshman Alyssa Johnson (Palmyra, N.Y./ Palmyra-Macedon) had 2 kills, 1 dig and 9 assists.

The Lakers travel to Monroe Community College for their next match in a highly anticipated matchup against the undefeated Tribunes (3-0). The match will take place Thursday, Sept. 30th with a 6:00 P.M. start time.
