Softball has 53 hits in sweep of GCC

Niagara County Community College ripped 53 hits on its way to a Region III sweep of host Genesee Community College on Friday afternoon. The Thunderwolves improved to 22-13 overall and 18-3 in regional play. N-Trip has a quick turnaround with a Noon doubleheader on Saturday at SUNY Broome.

Niagara CCC 26, Genesee CC 4

Sophomore Maggiemay Murrins was 5-for-5 with two doubles, a home run and eight RBIs for the T-Wolves. Classmate Mariah Semple also finished 5-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and five runs scored. Sophomore Shelby Wolf, meanwhile, was 4-for-5 with a home run, three RBIs and four runs scored. Freshman pitcher Leah Bailey improved to 14-2 on the year.

Niagara CCC 24, Genesee CC 1

Murrins was 4-for-4 with three doubles, a home run and five RBIs in the win. Sophomore Mackenzie Gozdziak went 4-for-5 with a double, triple and four RBIs and Semple finished 4-for-4 with a home run. Freshman Jessica Eagan also homered and first-year pitcher Emma Rozborski recorded nine strikeouts.
