Lakers Suffer Road Loss to Nationally Ranked Opponent

BATAVIA, N.Y. - The Lakers, looking to get back on track with an upset win over the nationally ranked #5 Genesee Community College Cougars will have to wait for another game to find that elusive win. The Cougars would cruise to a 77-49 win over the Lakers who would fall to 0-5 at the start of the season.

Sophomore Jevonte Williams (Rochester, N.Y./ Rush Henrietta) led the team in scoring with 21 while pulling in 3 rebounds and grabbing 2 steals. Williams would go 6-13 from the field while sinking all 8 of his attempted free throws. Freshman Arona Mane (Bronx, N.Y./ William Grady) followed up in the scoring column with 8 off the bench. In 15 minutes played, Mane would also pull down an impressive 11 rebounds and block one Cougars shot.

Freshman Michael Morgan (Rochester, N.Y./ Edison Tech) finished with 5 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 2 steals off the bench, while teammate Alex Hill (Rochester, N.Y./ Fairport) knocked down a 3-pointer and finished with 3 rebounds and 1 assist. Other contributors for the Lakers included Juan Navedo (New Britain, C.T./ Cornerstone Charter Academy) with 6 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, Paxton Creek (Kalgoorie, Australia/ Eastern Goldfields) with 4 rebounds and a steal, Pacey Hopkins (Avoca, N.Y./ Avoca) with 2 rebounds, and Noah White (Rochester, N.Y./ Edison Tech) with 2 points and an assist.

The Lakers will hit the road one last time before returning home, when they travel to Corning Community College on Saturday, November 19th for a 3 PM tip-off. The Lakers will then return home for their last game before Thanksgiving break in a 7:30 PM matchup with the Thunderwolves of Niagara County Community College on Tuesday, November 22nd.
