The Hudson Valley Community College men's soccer program lost a hard-fought Region 3 matchup against No. 2 Genesee 2-1 at the Outdoor Athletic Complex on the campus of HVCC on Saturday afternoon.

The first half of the game featured all three goals, with the Cougars hitting the back of the net twice in the first 17-minutes of the game. Hudson Valley started inching away at their deficit, as Dillon Halvax converted on a penalty kick with 18:28 remaining in the half.

In the second half, the Vikings had a few quality opportunities to tie the game up, including a nice opportunity with under a minute remaining in the game, missing the top corner of the net by a couple yards. The Genesee defense and keeper managed to keep the Vikings off the board and secured the one-goal win.

The men's soccer team is back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 12 as they travel to take on Tompkins Cortland beginning at 3 p.m. in Dryden, NY.
