BATAVIA, N.Y. - The Finger Lakes men's lacrosse team opened up their regular season on the road at Genesee Community College. The Cougars, who earned a bid to the NJCAA National Tournament last season, started their season in strong form, earning a 30-1 win on their home turf against the visiting Lakers. The game marked the first for the Lakers since the 2023 season after not fielding a program in 2024.
Freshman Blake Wells (Scranton, PA./Abington Heights) earned the start in goal and made 5 saves, while freshman Dakota Bajdas (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) netted the lone goal for the Lakers, assisted by classmate Matt Cheney (Phelps, N.Y./Midlakes).
The Lakers will return to action this Saturday, March 8th for their home opener against Delaware Technical Community College at 12 PM.
