BATAVIA - The Jamestown Community College baseball team took their first doubleheader road trip this past weekend, falling to Genesee Community College in both matchups.

 

Game 1: Jamestown Community College 2 - Genesee Community College 19

 

The Jayhawks (1-4) fell in a hole early on in the first game, trailing 12-0 after two innings. JCC found some offense in the third inning with sophomore designated hitter Nick Rini (Powhatan, VA/Knock HS) driving in a run. GCC answered back with six runs scored in the third to pull away.

 

Rini added another rbi in the fifth inning but the rally would fall short.

 

Sophomore pitcher Adonis Collado (Perth Amboy, NY/Perth Amboy HS/Cenepac) earned the loss on the mound, giving up 11 earned runs. A. Collado did collect three strikeouts on the day.

 

Sophomore pitcher Chris Calladine (Andover, NY/Andover Centers Look School) closed out the game, giving up six earned runs while getting two strikeouts.

 

Sophomore's German Nolasco (Spring Hill, FL/Weeki Wachee HS) and Billy Harmon (Racine, OH/Southern Local) along with Ethan Abegg (Commerce City, CO/Prarie View HS) each recorded a hit during the game.

 

Game 2: Jamestown Community College 3 - Genesee Community College 9

 

In the second inning, the Jayhawks took a 2-0 lead before the Cougars scored two runs of their own to knot things up after two. JCC regained the lead in the third inning to take the 3-2 advantage.

 

JCC held the Cougars scoreless for the next two innings before scoring seven runs in the fifth inning to secure the win.

 

Freshman pitcher Bryan Gardner (Falconer, NY/Falconer HS) earned the loss on the mound, giving up four earned runs.

 

Sophomore pitcher Stephen Garcia (Miami, FL/Breto Private School) saw action in 4.1 innings, fanning out four hits and giving up three runs. Garcia also added four strikeouts on the afternoon.

 

Redshirt-freshman Yordangel Gonzalez (Miami, FL/Miami Jackson Senior HS) had one rbi on the day with freshman second baseman Abegg and sophomore shortstop Roberto Aracena (Miami, FL/Citi Christian Academy) each stealing a base.

 

The Jayhawks will be back home this weekend as they face Tompkins Cortland Community College in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
