Jayhawks Comeback Falls Short Against Genesee

JAMESTOWN, NY - The Jamestown Community College (JCC) men's soccer team entered their final regular season game of the year knowing a win would secure a home playoff game, but Jamestown fell just short in a 2-1 loss to Genesee Community College.

Jamestown had a couple of great chances early, with both Braidan Govan and Dominique Malhomme getting a good boot on a scoring opportunity, but Malhomme's shot went high and Govan's was stopped by the Cougars' keeper.

The game stayed even at 0-0 to the 27th minute when Genesee broke through. The Cougars added another just four minutes later to go up 2-0 as we went to the break.

JCC struggled to control the ball and create chances until Malhomme was pulled down inside the box for a penalty kick in the 82nd minute.

The sophomore smashed home the attempt to pull Jamestown within 2-1.

The Jayhawks had a shot to tie it late, but Cole Holland's shot was again saved by Julius Christ.

Cian Galvin did his best in net to keep Jamestown alive making saves on 12 of the 14 shots he faced.

That was JCC's last chance to capitalize, ending the game at 2-1.

The Jayhawks now wait to see their playoff fate with other region three teams in action this week.
