Randy Mutt
Title: Pitching Coach

Genesee Community College Head Baseball coach Skip Sherman has announced the hiring of Randy Mutt as the Cougars Pitching Coach. Randy Mutt brings a new-school pitching style to the program with old-school work-ethics and the results are paying dividends for the Cougars baseball program. Coach Mutt fell in love with baseball at age 7, then his parents sent him to the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy in 9th grade. He played with many current Major League Baseball players during his four years in the academy.

As a senior, Coach Mutt was invited to play in the Perfect Game Showcase in Jupiter, Florida. He impressed the scouts and had scholarship offers to play in Canada and Mississippi. After one season of college, he transferred to Genesee Community College to  play under current GCC head coach Skip Sherman. Coach Mutt accepted a full scholarship from University of Northwestern Ohio, and the team finished in the Top 10 in the country in the NAIA polls each year he was there, including a championship season. Coach Mutt earned degrees in sports marketing and business administration.

His love for playing the game moved to coaching, as he worked with former professional baseball player Brian Garman who is now a coach in the minor league system for the Los Angeles Angels.

As the head coach at Tyler Hill in Pennsylvania, he won two championships in 2016 and 2017 guiding each team to an undefeated season.

"I am so pleased to come back to the school that gave me a chance as a player and now as a coach," said Coach Mutt. "Coach Sherman taught me how to play the game the right way, and now I am learning how to run a high-level program and work with student-athletes to get them to the next level in the classroom and on the baseball field."

Coach Sherman is pleased to have his former pupil on staff. "Randy Mutt was a competitor on the mound, and he is a perfect fit to a staff of hard-working coaches," said Coach Sherman. “Coach Mutt gets a pitcher in shape physically and mentally. We are extremely fortunate to have him on staff."
